IP Address Lookup

About the IP Address Lookup

Look up any IPv4 or IPv6 address — or a domain name — to see its approximate location, internet provider, ASN, timezone and reverse DNS hostname. Domains are resolved to all their IP addresses first so you can inspect each one. It is useful for investigating suspicious login alerts, checking where a server is hosted, or confirming which provider owns an address.

To answer, this tool sends the domain or IP address you look up to public lookup services, so it needs an internet connection.

How to use it

  1. Enter an IP address or a domain, or use “Look up my own IP”.
  2. If a domain has several addresses, click any of them to switch.
  3. Open the map link for the approximate area, or follow the WHOIS link for ownership details.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is IP geolocation?

It is usually correct to the country and often to the city, but it is never a street address. Mobile networks, VPNs and corporate networks can place an address hundreds of kilometres away. The location comes from databases of IP ranges, not GPS.

Can I find someone’s home address from their IP?

No. Public IP data only shows the network owner (the ISP) and an approximate area. Only the ISP knows which customer used an address, and it shares that only with law enforcement under legal process.

What is an ASN?

An Autonomous System Number identifies a network on the internet — an ISP, cloud provider or large company. All of its IP ranges are announced under that number, so the ASN tells you who operates the address.

Why does 192.168.x.x show no location?

Addresses like 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x and 172.16–31.x.x are private ranges used inside local networks. They are not unique on the internet, so they have no public owner or location.
