PDF Reader & Text Extractor

About the PDF Reader & Text Extractor

Open a PDF in your browser to read it page by page and extract its text for copying or reuse. It’s the Read & Extract tool within the wider PDF Toolkit, which also handles merging, splitting, rotating, compressing and converting PDFs. Your document is processed entirely on-device and is never uploaded.

This tool works in your browser: the files and text you use are processed on your device and are not uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Upload or drop a PDF file.
  2. Page through the rendered document to read it.
  3. Extract the text to copy it out for use elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

Can it pull text out of any PDF?

It extracts the embedded text layer of digital PDFs. Scanned PDFs that are just images of text have no text layer to extract — for those, use the Image-to-Text (OCR) tool instead.

Is my PDF uploaded to a server?

No. The PDF is rendered and read locally in your browser using a client-side PDF engine; nothing is transmitted.

What else can the PDF Toolkit do?

The same suite includes merge, split, rotate, compress, images-to-PDF and PDF-to-images tools, each on its own page.
