Video to Audio & Frame Grabber
About the Video Frame Grabber
Load a video and capture sharp still frames from it as images, with variable-speed playback to help you land on the exact moment. It is handy for grabbing a thumbnail, a proof frame, or a still for a slide. The video is played and captured entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded, so your footage stays on your device.
This tool works in your browser: the files and text you use are processed on your device and are not uploaded.
How to use it
- Load a video file from your device.
- Scrub or adjust playback speed to reach the moment you want.
- Capture the frame and download it as an image.
Frequently asked questions
How are frames captured from the video?
The current video frame is drawn onto an HTML canvas and exported as an image. Because it captures whatever the video element is showing, the still matches the frame on screen at that instant.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is played locally through the browser’s video element and frames are grabbed on-device, so your footage never leaves your computer.
What video formats can I load?
Any format your browser can play natively — typically MP4 (H.264) and WebM work everywhere. Less common codecs may not play, in which case convert the video to MP4 first.
What resolution are the captured frames?
Frames are captured at the video’s native resolution, so a 1080p clip yields 1920 × 1080 stills. Higher-resolution source video produces sharper captures.
