GPA & CGPA Calculator
About the GPA & CGPA Calculator
Calculate your semester GPA and cumulative CGPA on a standard 4.0 scale. Add multiple semesters, list each course with its letter grade and credit hours, and see both per-term and overall averages update automatically. It also estimates a graduation honours classification (such as Cum Laude or Dean’s List standing) based on your cumulative average. Everything is computed in your browser.
This tool works in your browser: the files and text you use are processed on your device and are not uploaded.
How to use it
- Add your courses to the active semester with a name, letter grade and credit-hours value.
- Add more semesters from the left panel to build a cumulative record.
- Read your per-semester GPA and the combined CGPA badge at the top.
Frequently asked questions
What grade scale does it use?
A standard US 4.0 scale: A+ and A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0, B- = 2.7, and so on down to F = 0.0. Points are weighted by each course’s credit hours.
How is CGPA calculated?
CGPA is the total of (grade points × credit hours) for every course across all semesters, divided by the total credit hours — so higher-credit courses count more.
What do the honours labels mean?
They are common Latin-honours thresholds mapped to your CGPA (for example ≥3.9 Summa Cum Laude, ≥3.5 Cum Laude, ≥3.0 Dean’s List standing). Your school’s exact cut-offs and scale may differ, so treat them as a guide.
Does my school use a different scale?
Possibly. Some institutions use a 4.3, 5.0 or percentage scale, or weight A+ above 4.0. This tool uses the widely-used 4.0 mapping shown on screen — check your registrar’s scale for official figures.
