Typing Speed Test — WPM & Accuracy

About the Typing Speed Test

Measure how fast and how accurately you type. Pick a timed test (15, 30, 60 or 120 seconds), a fixed number of words, or a short passage, then just start typing — the clock starts on your first key. You see your speed and accuracy live, and a results screen with your words per minute, raw speed, characters and a speed-over-time chart. Your personal best for each test type is kept on your device.

This tool works in your browser: the files and text you use are processed on your device and are not uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Choose Simple, Punctuation or Passage text, then a timed test or a word count.
  2. Click or tap the text and start typing; correct letters turn dark, mistakes turn red. Backspace fixes a mistake.
  3. When the time is up or the text is done, review your results — press Esc at any time for a fresh text.

Frequently asked questions

How is WPM calculated?

Words per minute counts every five correctly typed characters (spaces included) as one word, divided by the minutes taken. Raw WPM counts every character you typed, right or wrong.

Why is my accuracy lower than the mistakes I can see?

Accuracy counts every key you pressed. A mistake you fix with backspace no longer shows in the text, but it still counts against accuracy — the same rule most typing tests use.

What is a good typing speed?

Around 40 WPM is a typical average; 60–80 WPM is fast and comfortable for office work, and over 100 WPM is very fast. Accuracy above 95% matters more than raw speed.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes — tap the text to bring up your keyboard. Phone keyboards are slower than physical ones, so compare phone scores with phone scores.

Is what I type saved or sent anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Only your personal-best scores are stored, in your own browser.
